Class of 1955~Honorary. Bonnie Kay Andrus. Attended BYH 1952-53. Rexburg, Idaho 1953-54, and McCook, Nebraska, 1954-55. They have six children: Joe Kent Kerby, Jr., Stacey Kerby McCober, Kim Kerby Hildebrandt, Shawn Howard Kerby, Julie Kae Kerby Seitz, and Bryce Kelly Kerby. They lived in Storm Lake, Iowa for several years, then moved to Billings, Montanta where they lived for more than five years. Husband, Joe, retired rom the University of Montana-Billings and for nine years they have spent summers near Bear Lake, and winters in Mesquite, Nevada. Husband has come out of retirement to do some teaching at Dixie State College, and Bonnie is taking college classes. Active in the Church, with many callings. Class of 1955~H. Carol Boyden. Attended BYH in 1952-53. Notre Maison, Chorus, then Provo High School for 1953-54 and 1954-55. Her parents: Doren Daniel Boyden and LaRella Provost Boyden. Her twin sister is Connie Boyden, BYH Class of 1955. She married _____ Klauck, and has been alone for about 30 years, and has four children: Keri Klauck Thorn, Kristi Klauck Holly, Michal Klauck, and Kraig Klauck. Carol has worked at the LaCasita Mexican Restaurant in Springville, Utah, for 27 years and is still going strong. She loves to play golf. According to her sister, Connie: "She has been the dearest sister anyone could ever have, she is wonderful! She is the most kind, thoughtful person I have ever known. She is always doing something for others. She is a hard worker. She has been alone for about 30 years, has four children and they are her joy." @2005

Class of 1955~H. Marilyn Hamblin. Attended BYH in 1952-53. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Marilyn Hamblin, age 72, passed away March 7, 2010 in Orem, Utah. She was born to Lawson O. and Ida Tanner Hamblin on June 6, 1937 in Washington, D.C. Her life was both eclectic and eccentric: she lived in New York, California, and Arizona before settling down in Salt Lake and Provo, Utah. Her great loves were her close friends, her horse, Banner, and her dog, Cherry, and great literature. Marilyn earned her B.A. and M.A. in English literature from Brigham Young University. She rode horses, taught school, worked as a guard at a women's prison, and as an auditor for the state of Utah. She also served in the Navy and Naval Reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. She gained a thorough knowledge of water rights law in the state of Utah. She is survived by her sisters: Jean Hamblin Brooks and Elaine Hamblin Monteilh; her brother: David Hamblin; 9 nieces and nephews; and many more grand nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street. Friends may meet at the cemetery. Condolences may be emailed to info@bergmortuary.com ~ ~ ~ ~ OBITUARY OF HER FATHER: Following a life of love and service, Lawson Orlo Hamblin, 94, died April 16, 2000 in Pasco, Washington. He was born December 8, 1905 to Jacob V. Hamblin, Jr. and Sadie C. Lytle in Eager, Arizona. From a very young age, he worked on the family ranch, riding horses and herding cattle, with much responsibility for the family's livestock. He married Ida Tanner December 9, 1932 in Washington, D.C.; their marriage was sealed December 8, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. Lawson lived in Washington, D.C. for about 20 years. He worked for the Library of Congress and the Bureau of the Budget. He graduated from BYU in 1938 with a BA, from the American University in 1948 with an LLD degree. He moved to Utah in 1948 as Acquisition Librarian at BYU, and to assume the care of Ida's parents. He retired from BYU in the 70's. He then devoted the remainder of his time to farming and helping Ida and George with their water rights. He touched the lives of all who knew him with his loving spirit. He had a great faith in man, which resulted in changed lives and appreciative family and friends. He is survived by his four children: Marilyn Hamblin of Provo; David (Charlotte) Hamblin [BYH Class of 1957] of Salt Lake City; Elaine (Al) Monteilh of Pasco, Washington; Jean (John) Brooks of Tacoma, Washington. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ida; son, Robert; and 13 of his 14 brothers and sisters. He was an faithful member of the LDS church and served as called. Funeral services were held Friday, April 21, 2000 in Provo, Utah. Interment, Provo City Cemetery, in the most beautiful valley on earth. [Deseret News, Wednesday, April 19, 2000.]

Class of 1955~H. Margaret Huish. She attended BYH in 1952-1953. Margaret Huish married Thomas (Tom) Sumner. They divorced, and she married Norm Jacobsen, and they are now both deceased. Her children: Kelly Sumner (dec); Kristine Sumner (Kevin) King, Spanish Fork (dec); Tori Sumner, Spanish Fork; Norman (Denise) Jacobsen, Spanish Fork; and Kami (Todd) Anderson, Orem. Class of 1955~H. Sherman Kay. Attended BYH 1952-53 and 1953-54. Football, Basketball, Track. He married Carol Wade, BYH Class of 1956. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Sherman Ross Kay of Provo, Utah died December 9, 2005, in Dayton, Nevada where he was living with his wife Carole Linda Wade Kay. Death resulted from head injuries. The accidental fall occurred at home after returning from his doctors’ appointment. Sherman is survived by sons Bart Kay and Brent Kay. Bart Kay lives in Sunnyvale, California. Brent Kay lives in Dayton, Nevada with his wife, Amanda, their three children Liam, Noah and Meredith Kay. Sherman is the son of Levi Ross Kay and Grace Bills Kay of Provo, Utah. Also surviving is Sherman's brother, Chuck Kay, living in Provo, Utah. Sherm especially loved his Aunt Rita Stewart and Rita’s daughter, Patricia Dixon. Sherm was an honorary member of the Brigham Young High School Class of 1955. A memorial service was held on Friday, December 16, 2005 at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, Nevada. An Air Force Honor Guard provided military honors. [Provo Daily Herald - December 16, 2005]. ~ ~ ~ ~ The Sherman family lived in Sunnyvale, California for twenty years. Carole was employed as a senior buyer at a major electronics company for fifteen years. It was very fast paced and stressful, so they moved to Nevada in the early nineties. Carole worked as an expert shipping manager at an industrial hose reel company in Dayton, Nevada for five years. After that Sherman fell ill with strokes, fibromyglacia, and a number of other ailments. Carole cared for him until he died. @2006 ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS WIFE'S OBITUARY: Carole Linda Wade Kay, 74, died May 15, 2013 in Reno, Nevada due to a brain aneurysm. Carole was born April 13, 1939 in Inglewood, California to Edward Boone and Dorothy Mae Lee Wade. She married Sherman Ross Kay April 23, 1960 in Provo, Utah. Sherm died December 9, 2005 in Dayton, Nevada and is interred at the Veterans National Cemetery Fernley, Nevada. Carole graduated from Brigham Young High School with the Class of 1956 where she made many dear and life long friends. Her years at BYH were very special to her. Carole was predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by sons Bart of San Jose, California and Brent (Amanda) of Dayton, Nevada; three grandchildren, Liam St. John Kay, Meredith Leigh Kay, Noah Ronan Kay; and sister, Bonnie Lee Wade Lillywhite, of St. George , Utah. Three children: Jay, Mike and Marla. Karol moved from Provo in the fall of 1955 to Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, California, and lived there for 10 years. She then moved to Mexico for four years (Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarata), then moved to Las Vegas, where she has lived to the present. She worked for Safeway for 3 years, then remarried Charles when semi-retired. @2005

Deanne Sorensen. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Deanne Sorensen Reynaud, 77, of Orem, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2014 at home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Provo, attended BY High and graduated from Provo High in 1955. She married her high school sweetheart Dean C. Reynaud on June 1, 1955. They had two children, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was an amazing and talented knitter, crocheter, seamstress, quilter, and creative crafter. She will be missed by so many. Our heartfelt thanks to her friends, neighbors and care givers for their kindness, compassion and support during her illness.
