Brigham Young High School Class of 1916.

Research conducted in a variety of sources has produced a combined list of 125 members of the BYH Class of 1916. This includes research in the official record books in the BYU Records Office, performed by Scott Cowley. We have placed question marks by the name of three of the 125: John Elgie Payne, Frank E. Peterson, and Clifton August Talboe. At least some of these may be honorary members of the Class. [July 2008]

Class of 1916. Lyall Aird [or Lial] [female]. She received a BYH Normal Certificate in 1916. Source: Annual Record, B.Y. University, Book 6, page 485. ~ ~ ~ ~ Lyall [Lial, Lile] Chloe Aird was born on January 22, 1897 in Heber, Utah. Her parents were Henry McLean Aird and Sarah Violet Ryan Aird. Lyall married Mr. Vivian Jackson Nesbit on August 22, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on August 18, 1897 in Mammoth, Juab County, Utah, and died on November 15, 1943. She second married Robert Nathan Krill on November 23, 1946. Mrs. Lial [Lyall] Aird Nesbit Krill died on July 5, 1976 in San Diego, California.

University, Book 9, page 121. ~ ~ ~ ~ Annie Atkin was born on December 14, 1891 in St. George, Utah. Her parents were John Peter Atkin and Annie Walker Atkin. Annie married Vasco Myron Tanner. They were married in the St. George Temple, June 5, 1917. Their family consists of four girls and one boy; Carol, Gloria, Marilyn, Carmela, and Vasco Jordan. Annie Atkin Tanner died on November 6, 1972 in Provo, Utah. Her interment, Provo City Cemetery, Utah.

Her parents were James William Bean and and Olive Smoot Bean. Orea married Bertrand Myron Tanner on October 24, 1919 in Teton, Idaho. Orea Bean Tanner died on January 19, 1981 in Palo Alto, California. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER FAMILY: Her mother, Olive Smoot, born February 10, 1860, married October 18, 1876, James William Bean, born November 19, 1853, son of James Addison and Harriet Catherine (Fausett) Bean. LaRue married Alexander John Jex on January 28, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah. [They may having been living in Chicago, Illinois after marriage.] Alex was born on December 30, 1894 in Spanish Fork, Utah. His parents were John William Jex and Emily Hedquist Jex. Alex Jex died on January 28, 1982 in Salt Lake City, Utah. ~ ~ LaRue Beck Jex died on February 9, 1963 in Salt Lake City. Their interments, Salt Lake City Cemetery, Utah.

He was born on May 22, 1894 in Millcreek, Salt Lake County, Utah. His parents were Orson Bennion Calder and Catherine Snedaker Calder. Zelph married Mable Theresa "Tessie" Peterson on September 4, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Zelph S. Calder died on September 6, 1975 in Vernal, Utah. His interment, Vernal Memorial Park, Utah.

His parents were James Andreas Christensen and Nicoline Christine Nielsen Christensen, of Nephi, Utah. Marlow married at least three times: first, to Effie Alice Kent on September 4, 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Effie Kent was born on October 17, 1894 in Ogden, Utah. Her parents were William Kent and Mary Alice Rice. Effie died on September 17, 1934 in Wilmington, Los Angeles County, California. Her interment, Roosevelt Cemetery, Gardena, California. Marlow Christensen second married Ethel ______. He third married Louise Christensen. Marlow J. Christensen died on October 22, 1961 in Redwood City, San Mateo County, California. His interment, Golden Gate Cemetery, San Francisco, California.
