His parents were John Cooper and Sarah Ann Kate Newbold Cooper. He married Jeanie Marie (Jean) Holt on September 19, 1917. Jeanie was born on April 11, 1896 in Provo, Utah. Her parents were Edward Henry Holt and Edith Lucinda Holdaway Holt. She died on January 30, 1979. Robert Nelson Cooper died on April 9, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery, Utah.

Rachel Hale died on November 9, 1973, in Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, at the age of 77. Rachel's interment: Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho.
