His career started in education, starting an alternative high school for troubled kids in Utah County and specializing in teaching emotionally handicapped kids at Hillcrest High School in Salt Lake City. Mickey became active in the Utah Education Association. In 1984 he began his 13-year tenure with the National Education Association, in Washington, D.C. David Jacobs, of North Salt Lake, Utah, passed away peacefully on December, 13th while visiting one of his favorite places, St. George, Utah. Dave was born in Provo, Utah on September 28, 1950 to Barbara and Briant Jacobs. Dave has three sisters (Genevieve, Janine, and Marilyn) and one brother (Robert). He was a member of the Brigham Young High School Class of 1969. He graduated with his Master's Degree from the Marriot Business School at BYU, which is where he met his wife, soulmate, and adventure buddy, Christine Jacobs. Always looking for new adventures, the two of them lived in Toronto, Canada, Chicago, Illinois, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Atlanta, Georgia, Loveland, Ohio, Houston, Texas, and Evergreen, Colorado before settling in North Salt Lake, Utah. They were blessed with three daughters Kara "Marv" Da Costa, (Utah), Kaitlin "Skeeter" Barnes, (Utah), and Cheyanne "Barbarino" Allen (Kansas); and three grandchildren Cruz Da Costa, Riley Barnes, and Brooks Allen. Dave loved his family fiercely. He had many jobs throughout his life that ranged from coal miner to consultant. He worked as an internal and external consultant at General Mills, Rio Tinto, Rockwell International, FLSmidth, and United Space Alliance (USA). During his time at USA, Dave was awarded the NASA Public Service Medal. Most recently Dave was working for Signature Products Group (SPG). His wife and family were his loves, golfing and prospecting, his passions, and friends his treasures. He lived an intentional life centered on service, relationships, connection, learning, and finding joy. A celebration of his life will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City on December 22, 2022 at 11 am. The burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Kenneth Vearl Johnson, 58, of Provo passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at his home. Ken was born January 16, 1951 in Provo to Vearl Samuel and Roene Curtis Johnson. He married Madeleine Claire Campbell on March 21, 1972. Claire passed away in 2003. Kenneth attended Brigham Young High School in the Class of 1969 - Honorary. He graduated from Provo High School in the Class of 1969. Ken enjoyed working for Utah Pacific Bridge and Steel for over 35 years. Ken is survived by his two daughters: Jennifer (Bryce) Frandsen and Tiffany (Trek) Nielsen both of Eagle Mountain, Utah; four grandchildren: Colt, Seth, Madeleine and Kesler and sister, Judith Ann Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Jessica Ann Frandsen. Tom worked as a scientist for Kimberly Clark in Georgia. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Glen Thomas "Tom" Mildenhall, beloved father, husband, and grandfather, died October 16, 2013 in Marietta, Georgia. He was the oldest child born of Glen T. Mildenhall and Rae Nelson [BYH Class of 1947] Mildenhall, born on December 28, 1951. Tom attended Brigham Young High School until it closed in 1968, then graduated from Provo High School. He received his Bachelor’s and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan. Upon his return, Tom married Carolyn Priday on September 7, 1973, in the Provo LDS Temple. They raised six children. The Mildenhall family resided in Georgia the last 30 years where Tom worked for Kimberly-Clark. Tom was a valiant disciple of the Lord and a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served as Bishop, Scoutmaster, and Youth Leader. Tom found joy in everything he did — learning, music, the outdoors, gardening, genealogy, serving in the temple, and especially spending time with his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ben Mildenhall, and is survived by his wife Carolyn, children Charlotte (Brian) Duncan, Scott (Rebekah), Briant (Katie), Robert (Brianna), Taylor (Kristen), Nicholas (Laurie), and 17 grandchildren. Visitation Friday October 18, 2013, and Memorial Services Saturday, October 19, 2013, Mormon Chapel, 3195 Trickum Road, Marietta, Georgia. Interment, Georgia Memorial Cemetery, Smyrna, Georgia. Class of 1969 ~ H. Gayle Murphy. She attended BYH until 1967, where she made many friends. She transferred to Provo High School, where she graduated in 1969. She married Kaye Cornaby. Her brother is Joel Murphy, BYH Class of 1967. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Gayle Lynn Murphy Cornaby passed away Saturday morning, February 21st, 2009, after a courageous 7-year battle with cancer and Cushing disease. She had just celebrated her 58th birthday on Thursday surrounded by family, neighbors and co-workers. She was born on the 19th of February 1951 in Provo, Utah to Joseph Robison Murphy and Loneta Mangus Murphy and then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where her family resided until 1961. The family spent the next 15 summers residing in Yellowstone Park where Gayle's father served as a Ranger Naturalist. She attended elementary school in Lincoln and Orem after the family returned to Utah. Gayle attended BY High through 1967 and then graduated from Provo High in 1969. She began her career at age 21 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center as a unit secretary in the mother-baby department and served there faithfully for 37 years until the time of her death. She was grateful to her supervisors for allowing her to continue there during many months of chemotherapy during the last few years. Gayle married Kaye Cornaby in 1971 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1978. They have lived in both Provo and Orem where they raised 3 children: son Brandon (wife Cindy), son Brice (Stacey) and daughter Breann (Derek Olsen). Gayle was extremely proud of her 10 grandchildren and loved to spend time with them in her home whenever possible. She loved to travel with her family and continued a tradition of annual trips to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks with all the grandkids and many times her siblings and extended family members. Her favorite retreat during the last few years has been to Palm Springs, California to spend winter days relaxing in the warm sunshine at the home of her brother David and his partner Glenn Texeira - whom she considered "another brother." Her hobbies were photography and family and she devoted all of her spare time to recording their activities and then sharing these memories with others. In addition to her husband Kaye, children and grandchildren, she is survived by her: brothers Joel (Sharon), Robert, David (Glenn ), Phil (Miriam) Murphy; sister-in-law Dawn (Bill) Aaron, mother-in-law Dorris Cornaby, and sister-in-laws Colleen (Charles) Jarvis and Collette Thomas, uncles Don Murphy, LeRoy Mangus, Wally Mangus, and aunts Rebecca Sutton and Jewell Hepworth. She has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who have been a tremendous source of love and strength for her over the years. She was preceded in death by a grandson Dustin, both parents Joe and Loneta, and all of her grandparents. Her "extended family" has been her co-workers at UVRMC who have shown love and compassion toward her during her final stages of this difficult journey. The family also wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Wendy Breyer and her entire staff at the IHC Cancer facility in American Fork for their tender care for Gayle. Funeral services for Gayle will be Thursday, February 26, 2009, at 11 am at the Heather Ridge 1st Ward Chapel, 450 E. 2000 North in Orem. Viewing will be at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 North in Orem on Wednesday, the 25, from 6 to 8 pm and from 9 - 10:30 am at the chapel the morning of the services. Her parents had four sons and four daughters: William Victor Oldroyd [BYH Class of 1951] (Joyce) of Provo; Esther Oldroyd [BYH Class of 1953] (Gerald) Denkers of Buena Park, California; Mark Thomas Oldroyd (Virginia) of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; Hannah Louise Oldroyd [BYH Class of 1957] (Arlo) Jorgensen of Seal Beach, California; Nancy Oldroyd [BYH Class of 1959] (Richard) Kowallis of Cypress, California; Allen Kent (Anna) of Fairfield, California; Sue Oldroyd [BYH Class of 1969] (Terry) Pyne of Orem; and Robert Oldroyd [BYH Class of 1970s] (Susan) of Provo. @1998 ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: Sue Oldroyd Pyne passed away after a long battle with cancer in her home on July 20, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born on April 22, 1951, in Provo, Utah, to William Victor and Hannah Reynolds Oldroyd. She married Joseph Terry Pyne in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 7, 1970. They were married 47 years. Sue attended Brigham Young High School until it closed at the end of her junior year. She finished her senior year at Provo High School, where she graduated in 1969. She continued her college studies at Brigham Young University for a short time, studying English until she became a full-time mother. Her family was everything to her. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and wife! She lived a life of service and was always there for her family or anyone who needed her. She had an innate goodness and was always eager to help the ones she loved. She was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and held many positions in Primary. Her beautiful voice and love for singing were shared while serving in her favorite calling as the Primary music chorister. She also enjoyed her time serving in the Cub Scouts. Sue had a great talent and love for cooking, baking and gardening, which she generously shared with her loved ones and community for most of her life. She spoiled her children with fresh baked homemade bread and cookies daily, warm out of the oven as the kids arrived home from school. She also made elaborately decorated birthday cakes and homemade suckers for every birthday, holiday or other notable occasion. She baked the best peach pies in the state with fruit grown at her husband’s orchard, Pyne Farms in Santaquin, and made delicious grape juice. Although Terry was the fruit farmer, Sue had a green thumb of her own. She grew beautiful flowers and had quite the talent for growing heirloom tomatoes. Each summer her dining room table would be covered in every shape, color, and variety of tomato imaginable. Sue had a great sense of humor, and was always able to make you laugh. She cracked jokes up until the end, and even conspired to escape her hospice bed to the front porch of her home. She was dear to all who knew her. She loved with her whole heart and would do anything at any time to help the ones she loved. She was the most beautiful, loyal and loving woman and will be dearly missed. Sue is survived by her husband Terry Pyne and six children: Mike (Kristin) Pyne of Midvale, Utah; Adrienne (Dallas) Young of Lindon, Utah; Greg (Melissa) Pyne of Johns Creek, Georgia; Kent (Mandee) Pyne of Payson, Utah; Kelly (Cardon) Webb of Holladay, Utah; and Cameron Pyne of Portland, Oregon. She had 12 grandchildren who all adored her, and had one more on the way who she dearly hoped to meet (Daniel, Alex, Sawyer, Hudson, Scarlett, Violet, Kenton, Nyles, Liam, Elliot, Koos, and Cree, and Parker). She is survived by six of her siblings: Victor Oldroyd, Mark Oldroyd, Hannah Jorgensen, Nancy Kowallis, Allen Oldroyd and Robert Oldroyd. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Esther Denkers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Lakeview 5th Ward Chapel at 450 W. 1800 S., Orem, UT, at noon. There will be a viewing Wednesday, July 26th from 6-8 pm at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 S. State St., Orem, UT, and on July 27th from 11:00-11:45 am at the church prior to the service. Class of 1969. Pamela Orton. Pamela was born on December 28, 1950 in Provo, Utah. She married Garth N. Christensen, BYU Special Studies 1981. Her parents: Bryce Bentley Orton and Thelma Morgan, married 1949, parents of three sons and two daughters, Brent (Marla) Orton [BYH Class of 1968], Pamela (Garth) Christensen [BYH Class of 1969], Debbie (Lee) Clegg [also attended BYH], David (Lori) Orton, and Chad (Elizabeth) Orton. Their father, Bryce B. Orton was raised in Parowan, and he served during World War II in the Army Air Corps. A graduate of Brigham Young University, he received advanced degrees at the universities of Oregon and Washington. He taught at Ricks College and in the College of Business at Brigham Young University, where he served as Assistant Dean and Acting Dean. He also served on the Provo School Board and in the Utah House of Representatives. ~ ~ ~ ~ Pamela Orton Christensen died at the age of 52 of cancer, June 14, 2003 in Snohomish, Washington.

At times he was living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. @2009 ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Michael Clarke Patton, 63, of Maplewood, New Jersey, passed away at his home on Friday, June 20, 2014, of renal cell carcinoma. Michael was the beloved husband of Cynthia Zimpfer; father of Annabelle, Michael Casey, and Donovan; and father-in-law of Jacqueline. He is also survived by his father, Lyle Patton; two sisters, Robin Ingela-Arkell and Susan Patton; and five grandchildren. Michael was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 3, 1951, to Lyle and the late Ramona Clarke Patton. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1973 (BA Engineering) and the University of Utah in 1975 (BS Meteorology). He was a captain in the United States Air Force, flying as a meteorology officer during the Vietnam War. In 1987, Michael graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a master's degree in architecture. He worked as a structural specialist for FEMA in New Orleans; Orange County, New York; eastern Iowa; northern California; and, following hurricane Sandy, Queens and Brooklyn. He loved helping families and businesses get back on their feet after natural disasters. Michael was a devoted father, avid sailor, enthusiastic golfer, and zealous Denver Broncos fan. A funeral service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Maplewood on Tuesday, June 24. Michael will be buried at the Zimpfer family plot in Troy Mills, Iowa, on Sunday, June 29, 2018.
