Todd and Margy Andersen

Class of 1957. Todd Andersen. Childrens' Theater, Model U.N., Seminary Vice President. [1957 Wildcat yearbook spells last name as both Andersen and Anderson - Andersen is correct.] ~ ~ ~ ~ I graduated in 1957 from BY High. I had completed two quarters at BYU by then. I finished two years there and went on an LDS Mission to the Northwestern States: Washington, Oregon and Alaska, serving in all three states. BYU BES Electrical Engineering 1964. I worked in Ontario, California in Electrical Engineering for one year. I did a year of study in intellectual history at BYU. I married Margy Potter in 1966 in the Manti Temple. She graduated from South High in SLC in 1957, and BYU in Speech and Drama in 1961 -- she also completed a mission in Brazil South Mission. We have two daughters and six sons, now with all married but one, and we have fifteen grandchildren. All of our children but one graduated from BYU. We have lived in Ogden, Chicago, Saratoga and Hollister (California), Provo, Albuquerque, Orem, Salt Lake City and Park City. I continued my career in Electronic Engineering: I am named on two patents, and I published a few technical papers. I worked for Motorola, Wescom, and Intel. In 1975 I founded a retail computer store, one of the first in the nation. Steve Jobs sold some of his first Apple computers there. In the meantime, over a period of 15 years, I wrote and published The Made Whole series: The Gospels, Acts to Revelations, and Genesis. After selling the computer store, I returned to industry and worked 25 years for Philips Semiconductors, the last four years generating device models via the internet from home. After returning again to Utah, I studied scriptwriting and movie making at BYU and more at the U of U. I completed a short documentary on the religious sculpture of D. J. Bawden and an original 20-minute piece entitled The Test of Abraham and Isaac. After the children were raised, Margy completed training in mental health counseling. She worked for the LDS Church, counseling missionaries who returned from missions early due to emotional issues. We submitted our application to serve a mission together and were sent to Sao Paulo for Margy to counsel full-time missionaries, American and Brazilian, throughout Brazil. I have worked in the Sao Paulo Temple, in the CTM (MTC) here and also assist Margy, who is the counselor. We love Brazil and have had a rich and very spiritual experience working here. We will return in September 2007 to Utah. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: August 31, 2007. Todd Gilbert Andersen passed comfortably in his sleep on August 30th, 2007 at LDS Hospital. Brita and J. Reed Weight

Class of 1958 ~ Honorary. Brita Anderson. She attended BYH but graduated one year early in 1957. ~ ~ ~ ~ HER OBITUARY: WEIGHT, BRITA ROSE ANDERSON WEIGHT. Brita Rose Weight – loving mother, nurturing force, embracer of goodness and life – died April 7, 2020, at her home in Raymond, Alberta, lovingly cared for to the end by her family and loved ones. She was 81. She was born December 16, 1938 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Grace Ethel (Balls) Anderson, and William Grieves Anderson. Brita was a generous, loving soul from beginning to end. These last several years of her life, she was happiest visiting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in different parts of the world. She gave herself wholeheartedly to participating in their interests, imparting of her skills, supporting them in their trials, and celebrating in their joys. She created cherished moments with her loved ones with the same intentional care a gentle artist gives to every stroke of the brush. She leaves an awe-inspiring mural of memories. Brita loved learning and applied herself with fortitude and faith to whatever challenge was before her, whether it was mastering her formal studies, sewing a complex quilt, or helping her children prevail through adversities. In her youth she was an A student, rose to high achievement in piano, and was a proud member of the Canadian Girls in Training, which helped strengthen Brita’s early desires to follow Christ and serve others. Her family later moved to Utah. Brita graduated one year early from Brigham Young High School and went on to attend Brigham Young University. She graduated in 1960 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Music, and then became a teacher. Soon after, she met and married the love of her life, J. Reed Weight. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage before Reed’s death in 2016. In their years together, they raised seven children in love and on the principles of Jesus Christ. Brita believed in nourishing her children in wholesome activities and loving them through mistakes. As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brita was devoted and constant in her activity and service. She was also a beloved elementary school teacher for many years for the Calgary Board of Education. Throughout it all, Brita possessed a pure meekness and quiet strength that carried her through life. She handled any obstacle before her by problem solving, doing her best, and taking her concerns to her Heavenly Father in prayer. She will be missed for … her legendary prayer efforts in behalf of those she loves, her laughter, her zest for life, her love-laden quilts, skiing at the age of 80, her traditions of delicious food, and for taking “one little bite,” then another, until the whole dessert was gone. She was The Little Engine That Could, persistently trying, ever hopeful that her efforts would amount to success. You did it, Brita! You succeeded at all things that truly matter. Among those who will cherish her memory are: Her 7 adoring children, 25 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren: Brita Nanette Weight (and Julie Ashcroft) of St. Louis, MO; Tammy Skiles (and Bryan Skiles) of Seattle, WA, their 6 children, and 7 grandchildren; Cheri Wride (and Wayne Wride) of Saudi Arabia, their 5 children, and 1 grandchild; Curtis Weight (and Wendy Weight) of Lodi, Ca., and their 3 children; Kiersta Bailey (and Ryan Bailey) of Corpus Christi, TX, and their 4 children; Tara Sal (and Bryan Sal) of Houston, TX and their 3 children; and Robert Weight (and Laura Weight) of Saudi Arabia, and their 4 children. And, her “adopted children” Hendro Nugroho and Nova Roosmawati of Indonesia. Her siblings: Lucille Anderson of Chilliwack, B.C., Barclay Anderson of Greenville, Ca., and Kathleen Anderson of Petaluma, Ca. She’s proceeded in death by two siblings, Courtney Anderson and Warwick “Andy” Anderson. And by all she shared this life with: cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Due to the restraints imposed by the COVID19 pandemic, a memorial service and celebration was held before she passed so that all of her children could be present. The graveside service was held on April 9, 2020 at the Temple Hill cemetery in Raymond, Alberta.
