Reed died in 2003 [see website]. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Reed Lloyd, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Reed died suddenly June 1, 2003 after complications from a motorcycle accident. He was the rock that held our families together; we will miss him greatly. He was the most quietly decent, generous, honorable man that we will have the privilege of knowing. He could fix anything, and we always expected him to remain in that position in all of our lives. His Harry Truman-esque humor, eternal boyish good looks and ability to laugh at himself will be sorely missed. Reed was born September 28, 1942 in Malad, Idaho, the youngest of three boys to Elmer and Orilla Lloyd. He graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1960, and from Brigham Young University in 1968. He was active in the Seattle banking community, most recently with The Commerce Bank. His tender love of his family, common sense, and quiet dignity will be examples for us to follow. Reed is survived by his wife, Melinda, his sons Chris (Rebecca) and Ryan (Jessie), his grandson Andrew, and his brothers Eldon (Mary Kay) and Ross (Alice). Her parents were Felix G. Long of Missouri and Mary Ellen Sharp Long of England. Her family lived in Santaquin, Utah. After graduating from Brigham Young High School in 1907 with a Normal Diploma, she married Thomas Standring Broadbent, a dry goods salesman by trade, on June 10, 1908 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thomas died on June 21, 1916 at age 30 of appendicitis, in Lehi, Utah. She second married Thomas John Thomas. She was a schoolteacher in the public schools. Violet Long Broadbent Thomas died, twice widowed, of leukemia on February 27, 1952. She was 66 when she died in the in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Her interment, Lehi, Utah. |

Her parents were Charles William Love and Sarah Jane Evans Love. Alta married James Horace Bean on October 7, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on July 13, 1890 in American Fork, Utah. He died on January 28, 1974 in Orem, Utah. His parents were James William Bean and Pauline Emelie Hardy Bean. Alta Love Bean died in Provo, Utah on July 11, 1984. Her interment, Provo, Utah. ~ ~ ~ ~ THEIR SON'S OBITUARY: James "Evan" Bean beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend died peacefully October 15, 2003 surrounded by his family. He leaves a valiant legacy of unwavering faith, dedication to the path of truth, devotion and love to family and friends and a life of selfless service. He was born May 5, 1931 in Provo, Utah to James Horace and Alta Love Bean [BYH Class of 1914]. Evan graduated from Lincoln High and BYU. He served an LDS mission to the Great Lakes area. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Married Virginia Cech in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Evan was a music educator in Northern Arizona, Manti and Davis County. He was currently employed with World Group Securities as Branch Manager. Retired member of Tabernacle Choir after 18 years. Then served as a Temple Square usher with Virginia. Survived by his wife; son, James E. (Christina) Bean, Jr.; daughters, Audrey (James) Allison, Karen (James Spencer) Bean, Evelyn (James) Sheehan; 14 adoring grandchildren; brother, Hardy (Maridean) Bean and numerous friends. Preceded in death by parents, sister, June and Robert Gammell and sister, Dorothy Bean. Funeral services were held Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Bennion Heights 2nd Ward Chapel, 3315 West 5620 South, Bennion, Interment, Provo City Cemetery [Deseret News, Deseret News, October 17, 2003.] |

Baseball, Thespians, Chorus, Quill & Scroll, Y'ld Cat Newspaper Sports Editor & Associate Editor, Photography Club, Debate. ~ ~ ~ ~ HIS OBITUARY: Sterling Gee Loveland passed away Friday, January 27, 2017, after a brief illness. Sterling was born November 26, 1934 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Harold “King” Loveland and Jessie Fern McGavin. Sterling was the youngest of their four boys, His older brothers were: Jerry, Dick, and Emerson. He spent his growing-up years in Idaho Falls, Ogden, Logan, and Provo, Utah. He graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1952. He attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1960. He served a two-and-a-half-year LDS mission to New Zealand, which was one of the highlights of his life. He loved telling, and we loved hearing, the stories of his mission with a few Maori words thrown in for good measure. After his mission, while attending BYU, he met his future wife, Joyce Bullock, on a blind date. They were married on August 14, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had five children: Sue Ann, David, Lisa, John and Rebekah. They lived in Provo, Brigham City, Price and Orem, Utah during the next 26 years, with a few years spent in Orange County California as well. Sterling worked at a variety jobs during his career. They ranged from accountant, dairy farmer, insurance sales, city recorder, nursing home administrator, owner and head baker of Loveland Bread, to bus driver and transportation manager. After Joyce’s death in 1987, Sterling met and married Shasta Shipp Hamilton. They were married June 17, 1988. Sterling became a step-dad to Shasta’s three grown children: DaNett, Kurt, and Dana. During their marriage they moved to Glendale, Arizona where they opened and operated Loveland Bread for several years. Shasta passed away on December 31, 2003. After Shasta’s death, Sterling purchased a motor home and enjoyed spending time with the kids and grandkids going on several road trips. In 2012 Sterling moved back to Utah to be closer to his family. He enjoyed living at West Jordan Senior Housing where he made many new friends. After a fall in February 2016, he spent several months in rehab care where he was a staff and resident favorite. He moved to Sunridge Assisted Living in November of 2016. He loved living at Sunridge and celebrated his 82nd birthday there in November with family and friends. Sterling was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony. He served in many church callings during his life. He especially enjoyed the time he served as scoutmaster and the years he served as stake clerk. He was a great sacrament meeting speaker and used very few notes. His favorite church calling was when he and Shasta served as nursery leaders for many years. Sterling was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce, his wife Shasta, his brothers Jerry and Dick, and his daughter-in-law Jan Loveland. He is survived by his children: Sue Ann (Bryce) Bodily, David (Arva) Loveland, Lisa (Paul) Hammer, John (Dustie) Loveland, Rebekah (Dan) Ames as well as daughter-in-law Melanie Loveland. He is also survived by his brother Emerson (Helen) Loveland, step children DaNett Coy, Kurt (Connie) Coy, and Dana (Roger) Eusebio. He leaves behind 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. His family is grateful for the loving care he received from the staff at Sunridge Assisted Living and Cornerstone Hospice during his illness. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 30, 2017, at the LDS chapel located at 4825 W. 7000 S. West Jordan, UT 84084. Interment, Roy City Cemetery. Source. |
