The Provo City Library is currently helping to build a digital photo archive that will be hosted by Utah Valley University as part of the Mountain West Digital Library.
Steven M. Law, the Special Collections Librarian who has been so helpful in researching BYH graduation lists, is actively seeking original photographs of Provo taken between 1850 and 1970.
These photographs will generally be of buildings and events and only rarely of people – people can be in the photo, but they are not the primary focus.
This 6-month project will end on July 31st, so alumni response must be rapid.
Steven Law can be contacted at steven_law@provo.lib.ut.us or by calling the Provo City Library at 801-852-6650. You can bring your historically significant photographs, negatives or slides of Provo to the Library Reference Desk during open hours.
If you would prefer to wait while your photographs are scanned, call 801-852-6651 to arrange an appointment. Please be prepared to provide as much information about the photographs and photographers as possible. For general information about the Remembering Provo project, please call Sharon at 801-852-6676.
